"Back in my day"

We had these things called trees. That grew pine cones.

For free.

AND THEY WERE NOT CINNAMON SPICE SCENTED.

Just sayin.

WHY

I am the worst punkin' carver in the world.

Not scary!

Just weird.

Body parts

CREEPY!

DWI

Greg is one of those people who always has a pen and a notebook, and sometimes when he's had a few drinks he gets an idea for a drawing.

For example:

THAT'S RIGHT!

And...he made this with a Sharpie one night when we had a party:

Snicker!

Organic happy-chicken

We decided: no more grocery store meat!

Because why add misery to the world? And also it doesn't taste very good.

This chicken: tasty and happy.

Also: $30.

Marriage

Cut your brownie in half.

Give Greg the big piece!

What kind of squirrel are you

If you don't have a pocket full of acorns?

Post office visit

The little one by the subway.

Admit that the aesthetic is berserk.

Thank you.

Found!

In a sideboard we brought home: plastic T-shirt keychain!

Moderately awesome.

Hm. Or not at all awesome?

Who is this?

Hint: wrinkly, nail-bitten old hand is from the present; fresh young face is from the past (also the ponytails).

BATHROOM ALARM!

Yes, I own this.

I bought it last summer at Value Village, and I just found it in a box.

This is going up on the bathroom door—TWO TAPS!

Remember these?

I had these pencils when I was a kid. They work pretty good for grown-up stuff too.

There always seems to be one more sharp lead!

October 23, 2009

Found!

Four lovely mugs.

Three for drinking black coffee (me), one for coffee with milk (Greg).

They were on the street with the baking ware.

Bears

More like cats than I realized!

I only left the room for ONE SECOND.

Springtime!

In the fall!

It was so nice out this morning...

Five-dollar eggs

They have the same birthday as my sister!

If life gives you lemons

Take a coffee break on Fifty-third Street.

Bring your crocheting with you!

Forget about those damn lemons.

Teddy bear ear

Use your powers of induction on it.

Pepsi

Remember these crates?

I am cleaning them.

This one is looking pretty spruce!

Lucky

Greg gets to hang out with Philip Guston drawings at work. Like, touch them and whatnot!

Here's one on his desk:

Man, he's so good. (And Guston's not bad either! HAR)

Frog and Toad are friends

Yep, they are.

In case you didn't know that.

I found this book and boy is it good!

Purchased

Tonight, from Fishs Eddy:

A small brown ceramic pot for $1.64. Yep, it doesn't "count" if you buy it with coins.

(Unless you live in Canada, where coins are so ubiquitous you need a specially designed change purse to manage them. The government gives one to every child at age 12—that's Socialism, y'all!)

Almost too awesome

You remember the baked apples I made two nights ago?

I had to cook our two little apples in a 9-by-14-inch casserole dish—because we didn't have any small ones.

BUT! On the way to work today, in a bag on the sidewalk:

Unused amber Corningware baking dishes, each six inches in diameter, with little handles!

PERFECT FOR TWO APPLES.

Thank you, street.

Gimme plates!

These Danish Mothers' Day items:

No sentimental poetry, just a straightforward illustration of a mother's biological role.

Give those babies their food!

Baked apples!

Extra whipped cream:

Also known as "second dessert."

EAT IT WITH A SPOON WHEN NO ONE'S LOOKING!

Autumn

It's that time of year.

Rain is falling.

Leaves are piling up.

Squirrels are burying their peanuts.

The castille soap is ejaculating wildly across the bathroom instead of squirting nicely into your hand.

Yep, when the soap gets cold and clogs the pump you know that autumn is here. As Pa Ingalls used to say.

CAKE!!

I made four little cake loafs for my sister's birthday.

She asked for chocolate cake with pink icing and multicolored sprankles.

SHE GOT IT!!

Metro Photo

Thank you for the information.

Underground

What is this metal thing?

Rabbit ears plus round antenna plus skarshed pie plate? Duct taped to the subway entrance?

Hmm...attached to this black cable.

Goes underground?!

Down the stairs, down the hall...

Turns left...

Across the ceiling...

Into the wall!

Someone has a "secret" radio.

Note

Someone in this house has renounced toast.
